Beware the Dangers of Drugs and Nutrient Depletion

Many drugs are clearly linked with nutrient depletions.Over the decades that I’ve been publishing my Health & Healing newsletter I’ve written hundreds, if not thousands, of articles on a variety of health topics, including the danger of drugs.

I want to share information from one of the most important articles I’ve written—“Are Your Drugs Robbing You of Nutrients?”—which focuses on one of the greatest dangers of drugs, and that’s their ability to cause nutrient depletion and poor nutritional status.

Dangers of Drugs: Enormous Financial Costs, Adverse Events...

The simple truth is that drugs are bankrupting this country in more ways than one. Americans fill 3.8 billion prescriptions per year, at a total annual cost of $286.5 billion. That’s an average of 12.6 prescriptions for every man, woman, and child in this country.

We’re paying this enormous cost not only with our wallets, but with our health. Record-setting numbers of serious adverse drug events have been submitted to the FDA in recent years—a relative increase that is rising four times faster than the number of prescriptions.

...and Nutrient Depeletion That Puts Overall Health at Risk

I’m also concerned about the more subtle, long-term dangers of drugs, especially the nutrient depletion they cause. Many drugs are clearly linked with nutrient depletion, and whenever vital minerals and vitamins are leached from your body day after day, your nutritional status and overall health is bound to suffer.

It’s unlikely you’ll hear about this from your conventional doctor, so I’ve compiled a chart of 16 commonly prescribed classes of drugs along with the nutrients they deplete. Remember, safe, natural alternatives to virtually all of these meds do exist.

If you require any of the medications listed in the chart, make sure you shore up your overall nutritional status first by taking a potent daily multivitamin along with additional supplements as needed to protect yourself from the danger of drugs.

Now it’s your turn: What are your feelings about the dangers of drugs?
