Diabesity Challenge Tip: Try Glycine
Glycine is an inexpensive, pleasant-tasting amino acid that stimulates fat burning and reduces appetite. It triggers the release of glucagon, a hormone that turns on fat burning in the liver, and generates pyruvate, a substance involved in energy production that enhances endurance and fat burning.
In other words, it helps you keep your appetite in check, burn fat, and still have energy to get your morning exercise!
Glycine also reduces inflammation and protects against glycation, a destructive process that contributes to diabetes-associated damage to the eyes, kidneys, and other organs.
While it’s not critical that you take glycine as part of my Diabesity Challenge, it can really help support your weight loss efforts.
The suggested dose is 5 g of glycine mixed in water prior to exercise in the morning. You can find glycine in health food stores or from the Whitaker Wellness Clinic.
